Robbie Medwed

Late Summer is one of my favorite times of the year. Sitting under the stars at night with a great cocktail and great friends as the weather starts to hint at cooler temperatures is one of life's greatest pleasures. Once I mixed this cocktail for the first time, it was clear the name "Moondance" was absolutely perfect for this drink's golden orange color.

  • 2 oz. Rye Whiskey
  • 1/2 oz. Amaro (Luxardo has many kosher varieties)
  • 1/2 oz. Peach Shrub
  • 3 drops orange-mint bitters

This drink may be a bit more challenging to make since both the peach shrub and the orange-mint bitters were homemade. But, if you don't want to go through the process of making peach shrub, you can easily sub sub 1/4 oz. peach nectar + 1/4 oz. lemon juice or another acid. And, any fruity or crisp flavor of bitters would be great, but, in a pinch you could always leave them out.  Pour all of the ingredients into a glass and stir (very) well. Strain and serve neat.
